Creative Portraits
Creative Portraits are sessions that are near and dear to my heart. They can be incredibly difficult to pull everything together, but the end result is always worth the effort!
Said simply, these sessions are like “make-believe” for adults. These are the sessions where you get to use your imagination and we’ll build the session around the themes and ideas that are meaningful to you.
For instance, the image to the left is from the “Pandemic Birthday” session I did with a model friend in the last half of 2020. We both missed out on celebrating our birthdays due to the COVID-19 virus, so I came up with this idea to visually create the way we were feeling. I had her wear in a sequined party dress with festive balloons, but staying safe by wearing a military-grade gas mask and standing alone in an open field. That’s sense of isolation, tinged with fear, coupled with a desperate attempt to maintain some semblance of normalcy, is something that was meaningful to us both.
Now, not every Creative Portrait has to have a lot of depth to it – I can certainly understand the desire to explore the “What If…”s of life. These sessions can be all about bringing to life childhood dreams, imagining what life would have been like if you were born into royalty or took a job as a lumberjack. In otherwords, if you can dream it, we’ll find a way to make it happen.
But what if you don’t have your own ideas, that’s ok too! The first step in the process is just talking about who you are and whats important to you. By the end of our talk I usually have enough information that I’ll be able to suggest a couple of ideas that tie back to what you shared with me.
